Descending Nominated for Four Canadian Screen Awards

HAMILTON – January 16, 2013 – EchoBay Media’s television series Descending is nominated for four Canadian Screen Awards (formerly known as The Gemini Awards) by The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television.

Descending is nominated in the following categories:                                                                   

  • Best Science or Nature Documentary Program or Series (Producers: Jennifer Howe and Jeff Wilson)
  • Best Photography in a Documentary Program or Series (Director of Photography: Andre Dupuis)
  • Best Picture Editing in a Documentary Program or Series (Editor: Alvin Campaña)_
  • Best Sound in an Information/Documentary Program or Series (Sound Design Team: Stephen Barden, Ryan Ongaro and Tyler Whitham)

Scott Wilson and Andre Dupuis, co-founders of Echo Bay Media, a production company based in Hamilton, ON, created Descending following the success of their first television series departures.

“We wanted to push the boundaries of existing underwater camera technology in our production of Descending,” says creator and host Scott Wilson, “We were a small team with a big vision.  These nominations are very exciting for us and extremely rewarding.”

This is the fourth nomination for cinematographer Andre Dupuis.   He was previously nominated and has twice won in the photography category and once for directing departures.

Winners for the documentary categories will be announced on Wednesday February 27, 2013.
